If the spine happens to be strained or compressed, the disc may rupture outward. This rupture may put pressure on the nerves rooted to the spinal cord that control body movement. This lower back pain becomes chronic when they happen recurrently.
Causes of lower back pain are varied. Oftentimes, over activity of the back muscles can cause injury which results to pain. Lower back pain may be felt when lifting something heavy, overstretching, or bending. Doing these activities may strain the muscles or ligaments at the back. Some factors that may contribute to chronic lower back pains are degenerative conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, bone diseases, irritation of joints, viral infections, or congenital abnormalities in the spine. Pregnancy, obesity, poor physical condition, inappropriate posture, and poor sleeping position may also contribute to lower back pains.
